During recent CDS testing, I found that MMS (22.4% sodium chlorite solution) had lost some of its effectiveness at 18 months. Made a fresh batch and got the results I had expected.
I don't usually use 50% citric acid as 4% HCL tastes much better and should not cause stomach problems that CA can produce in some people.
I have read that the shelf life of dry citric acid crystals is 5 years. I am testing Quick CDS now using fresh dry sodium chlorite flakes and dry citric acid crystals that are 9 years old and they seem to be working properly. Ordered fresh CA crystals and will recheck my testing with them and compare to the 9 year old CA.
